WWE May Be Using Kharma's Pregnancy To Get Some Points With Groups That Would Otherwise Have Been Alienated
Kharma's pregnancy was brought to light two weeks ago following her puzzling angle on Raw when she got down on her knees and started to cry in front of all the other divas. She was then given the forum this past Monday to explain her situation and what would be happening with her over the course of the next year.
But it may not have been the nice gesture from WWE that some believe it to be.
From PWTorch.com:
WWE does position itself, though, as a promotion that let a wrestler take a year off to have a baby, while welcoming her back with open arms after her maternity leave.

It would seem to be a no-brainer that WWE would give a woman maternity leave if for no other reason because it's illegal to fire someone because they are pregnant.
But if you go back to 2005, the company fired Dawn Marie because she was pregnant. The company didn't even try to spin it because they didn't have any sound reason for getting rid of her. Following that debacle they took a lot of heat, as you would expect, from all sorts of different groups.
By allowing Kharma to take a year maternity leave, WWE can get back in the good graces of some of those groups that they alienated six years ago. They gave her this forum to tell her story because Linda McMahon still has aspirations of running for political office, and firing a woman because she is pregnant doesn't do them any favors.
