Samir Nasri is expected to be included in Arsenal's squad for its Saturday clash with Liverpool despite a pending move to Manchester City and, according to Mirror Football, a desire to play for Manchester United. To say it's a confusing time would be an understatement.
The 24-year-old midfielder made it clear that he wanted out of Emirates and has since watched fellow midfielder Cesc Fabregas head to Barcelona. While a deal to Manchester City is reportedly in the final stages, the Red Devils should at least give Nasri's representatives a courtesy call.
Losing another talented playmaker would be a big blow to an already struggling Arsenal offense and would provide the Red Devils with a big-time performer after a quiet transfer window. Manager Sir Alex Ferguson has know of Nasri's interest for awhile, but hasn't attempted to fully capitalize on it.
Nasri had 16 goals in 43 games across all competitions last season, including 10 in 28 Premier League matches. The French international could improve his shot accuracy, but other than that he is a solid all-around player that should be entering his prime.
Nasri is a smart player on the attack and has been known to add a little flash to his game from time to time. Even though he has had a solid track record of success over the past few years, there is a feeling that he could still take his game to another level.
The current price on Nasri is 22 million, which is reasonable considering some of the other moves during the window. With speculation that the Citizens will complete a deal within a day, the Red Devils should make another pass at him, even just for the sole purpose of sticking it in City's face.
The last thing United wants is to be battling against their crosstown rivals all season and have Nasri be the main culprit for failing to defend its title. It should be an interesting situation to watch to say the least.
