Reggie Bush Has A Cloudy Future in New Orleans, Could Latest Comments Change His Fate?
Since draft day, Reggie Bush has been on thin ice in New Orleans.
The Saints drafted Mark Ingram and a subsequent tweet, along with Bush's large contract, made it seem like the running back might be done with the team he won a Super Bowl with. Since then, Bush has come out and talked about the future and he's made some interesting comments.
With New Orleans trying to retool for another Super Bowl, Bush's contract needs to be trimmed down, and the running back seems open to the idea.
Per Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk:
?This is something that me, my agent and the Saints have to collectively come together to talk about and just come to a meeting point ? a happy medium ? because obviously there?s going to have to be some type of pay cut,? Bush said. ?There?s going to have to be some type of renegotiation.?
When it comes to top players taking pay cuts, that's the first step.
Once the player knows it's what's best for the team, it's much easier process than essentially threatening the player or cutting him. Bush and the Saints want to get a deal done and once the two sides can sit down and talk about it, it's going to get done.
They've jumped over the biggest hurdle in the process and now it's just a matter of getting some money off of the books and paying Bush what he's worth to the team, which is still a pretty decent sum.

The former USC Trojan is such an x-factor in the offense and on the special teams that he should be compensated generously for his role.
If the Saints disagree, it could open up a bigger can of worms than before.
