NFL Free Agency: Kevin Kolb to the Arizona Cardinals Makes Perfect Sense

Kevin Kolb suiting up in an Arizona Cardinals uniform in 2011 makes perfect sense. Arizona did nothing to improve their very below average quarterback positions in this year's draft and Kolb appears to be the best available—and is certainly the best fit.

Not only do I believe that Kolb is a perfect fit as an Arizona Cardinal, but ESPN Analyst John Clayton believes, too, as he discussed the possibility in his Wednesday column.

Kolb is definitely the best available quarterback—however, the future of the Philadelphia Eagle quarterback sits in limbo thanks to delayed free agency due to the lockout.

One popular name that has been circling the rumor mill this off-season is quarterback Marc Bulger—however, Kolb is the much better option in my eyes, but head coach Ken Whisenhunt may feel otherwise.

The 2010 off-season for the Cardinals was a challenging one to say the least, as they attempted to replace the retired Kurt Warner. However, three quarterbacks failed to fill the enormous hole—Matt Leinart was cut, Derek Anderson failed miserably and John Skelton is just too young.

Bulger backed-up Kurt Warner in St. Louis, so it may make some sense in Whisenhunt's eyes—even though Kolb is the much younger option with a large amount of upside.

Undoubtedly, the Cardinals will explore their options once the lockout is lifted and I'm sure that Kolb will become Arizona's most wanted player.

Kolb is only 26 years old and has a ton of potential. During his four years in the league, Kolb suited up in 20 games for the Eagles as he's thrown 11 touchdowns, 2,082 yards and has a current passer rating of 73.2.

It appears that Kolb has yet to peak and develop and will have no chance to mature into an NFL starter in Philadelphia due to Michael Vick's emergence.

If Kolb were to traded to the Cardinals, he'd team up with All-Pro wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald—and that could be a match-made in heaven for the next several seasons.

As the Cardinals' front office continues to evaluate their roster and explore options for their starting quarterback for 2011, Kolb will definitely be a talked about name.

As of right now, the Cardinals' quarterback position is almost laughable and Kolb's presence could very-well turn Arizona into a playoff team in the very weak NFC West.
