Harmon Killebrew, the sweet-swinging first baseman who spent almost his entire 22-year major-league career with the Washington Senators/Minnesota Twins franchise, died Tuesday morning at the age of 74.
Killebrew had been battling esophageal cancer for nearly a year but announced late last week that he would be entering hospice and ending his fight against the disease.
The first baseman was a fantastic hitter, one of the most feared sluggers the game has ever seen in his heyday. His power numbers remain among the most impressive the sport has ever seen, but the longtime Twins star remained one of the most humble, unassuming stars in the sport throughout his life.
Join us as we take a look at Killebrew's life and career, breaking down the life of one of the best hitters (and best people) the game has ever seen.
