Zlatan Ibrahimovic Wants to End Career In America and Regrets Guardiola Dispute

In an interview with Dutch magazine Voetball International, AC Milan striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic says that he envisions finishing his career in Major League Soccer, Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet reports.

The 29-year old Swede said: "I want to play one or two years in a nice place, and then retire."

"As I see it know, this is my last contract with a European club. When I'm done in Milan I will play a year or two in the United States," he added.

Ibrahimovic's contract with the Serie A leaders expires in the summer of 2014.

The powerful striker would follow in the footsteps of superstars David Beckham, Thierry Henry and compatriot Fredrik Ljungberg who in recent years have chosen to retire in the United States after successful careers in Europe.

According to Ibrahimovic, his years in the US would be his last as part of the world football community. When asked whether he would be interested in coaching, he replied:

"Not as I feel at this moment, but at the same time many players have said the same thing. Football will always appeal to me, but there are many other things that attract me as well."

Ibrahimovic also reflected on his unsuccessful spell in Barcelona, whom he left this past summer after a dispute with coach Pep Guardiola.

"There is no place for sympathy in football. I regret how it ended but that's in the past. I'm happy in Milan, I feel valued again." he told the Dutch magazine.
