Video: Nike introduces new gear with five NFL stars

IRVING, Texas -- More from Tuesday's Nike Equipment Summit in Cowboys Stadium. Here's five minutes of five NFL players -- Steven Jackson, Ndamukong Suh, Clay Matthews, Dwayne Bowe, and Felix Jones -- talking about the new Nike Air Zoom Alpha Talon cleat and Pro Combat uniforms in an on-field presentation. The unis are part of a rollout that includes the release of the uniform designs for the upcoming major bowl games (more on that later), and the cleat is Nike's new footwear innovation.

The key to successful innovation, as several Nike staffers and designers told the media on hand, is to constantly work with athletes to devleop the right kind of product. The constant balance is between speed (lightweight clothing) and protection (reinforced construction), and it's been that way since Bill Bowerman was making rubber soles on a waffle iron for the running men of Oregon in the 1960s.

"This new cleat gives me the traction and protection when and where I need it most," said Suh. "Nike Football keeps raising the bar, giving players the best cleats in the game today."

In the video below, Desmond Howard and Nike designer Ken Link talk about the new gear with the NFL players named above.
