2011 NFL Mock Draft: Where Will the New Orleans Saints Find a New DE?

2011 NFL Mock Draft Run On Defensive Ends Continues With Muhammad Wilkerson

The New Orleans Saints have major concerns surrounding their defensive ends. Will Smith has some legal woes that haven't been answered.

More importantly, soon-to-be 32-year-old Alex Brown will become a free agent after 2011. One, if not both, of those players probably won't be around in 2012 so finding a replacement makes sense. Especially since the Saints pass rush was held in check several times last year: seven times they were held to one or zero sacks.

Picking at 24 they will have some options: Adrian Clayborn and Cameron Heyward are the most high profile. But Muhammad Wilkerson is really appealing.

As a college defensive tackle, he has remarkable size and power, but he's also very athletic.  And by now, there should be no question about him based solely on his the level of competition he played against. The MAC has produced plenty of recent stars (Ben Roethlisberger, James Harrison, Greg  Jennings) who had little problem transitioning to the NFL.
