If you look simply at his stat line, then Washington Wizards center JaVale McGee had a career game Tuesday night against the Chicago Bulls: 11 points, 12 rebounds and 12 blocks.
Yes, he had the first triple-double with blocks since Dwight Howard in November 2008.
But there's a reason NBA fans like to watch the games rather than read the box scores: Box scores can be misleading, but seeing the actual game (or the highlights) can be telling.
Never has there been a player who wanted to get his triple-double more than McGee.
OK, maybe not never, because Andray Blatche probably would have screwed over his own mother to get his.
But McGee looked lost, confused and flat-out discombobulated while trying to get his first career triple-double.
He couldn't maintain control of the ball, missed way too many shots (5-of-14 shooting) and decided it would be a good idea to celebrate his achievement at the end of the game despite the fact that his team was down by 18 points.
That's right.
McGee was excited about posting a triple-double—in an lopsided loss—that actually made NBA TV announcers Chris Webber, Rick Kamla and Kevin McHale crack up in hysteria.
Congrats, JaVale. You've given us the funniest triple-double in recent memory.
