League sources have told FanHouse, however, that Chicago is inviting four players from the NBA Development League to audition for the team on Tuesday. Orien Greene (right) of the Utah Flash, Tulsa 66ers rookie Jerome Dyson, Stephen Dennis of the Bakersfield Jam and Rio Grande Valley guard Matt Janning will all work out in Chicago on Tuesday in hopes of securing a 10-day contract from the Bulls.
Greene is probably the most familiar to basketball fans as he was drafted by the Boston Celtics in the second round of the 2005 NBA Draft and has been floating around the NBA and D-League ever since. Greene, a 6-foot-4 defender who has great size for a point guard but can also play off of the ball, is averaging 17.3 points, 5.3 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 2.1 steals for the Flash this season while shooting 36 percent from beyond the arc. His most recent NBA experience came with the New Jersey Nets as a 10-day call-up earlier this month.
Dyson, a 6-foot-3 rookie guard, had a solid four-year college career at Connecticut culminating with a senior season that saw him average 17.2 points, 4.3 rebounds and 4.2 assists. It's a bit surprising he's done enough to earn a shot with the Bulls considering he hasn't started a game for Tulsa this season and is shooting less than 43 percent from the field. However, his defense has been solid at the D-League level and he has been able to put a few games together that are much better than his averages suggest, which shows that his potential is definitely there. In a Jan. 28 game against the Springfield Armor, Dyson came off the bench to hit 6-of-9 from beyond the arc to finish with a team-high 37 points in 28 minutes.
