Washington has a solid nucleus of young talent in place for the future. John Wall is a star, and is definitely a point guard that the franchise can move into the future with. Nick Young and Jordan Crawford are both talented scorers at shooting guard. Javale McGee is an imposing defensive presence at center.
With all that being said, Washington is still lacking at the small forward position. Rashard Lewis and Josh Howard were banged up last season. Larry Owens and Maurice Evans were healthy, but did not produce at a high level during their limited time on the court.
The Wizards fix their weakness at small forward, but selecting Kawhi Leonard out of San Diego State. The 6-7 225 lb. Leonard, has excellent strength and athleticism. Jay Bilas simply said that ?Kawhi Leonard is a man? when speaking of the prospect.
Kawhi Leonard is not only a talented scorer, but is also a capable rebounder from the small forward position as evidenced by his 10.6 rebounds per game last season at SDSU. Leonard will only add to this young Wizards team that appears ready to take a big step forward next season.
