Six TV Watching Changes I Made After Moving Time Zones

Filed under:

In addition to adjusting to the higher elevation and drier climate in Northern Colorado, change have also been made in my viewing habits. From where I sit while typing up this feature I can glance out my window and admire the foothills that constitute the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains here in northern Colorado.

This is not a view I'm used to. In fact, only three months ago my view consisted of the oil refinery and nuclear power plant smokestacks that jutted above the murky waters of the Delaware portion of the state-named river. Needless to say, I've made a drastic change.

There were numerous reasons I uprooted the family from the East Coast to move two-thirds across the country: quality public education, temperate climate, nearby family and, what I would later learn, apparently more eating establishments per square mile than some of the smaller East Coast states.

While I've had to make small adjustments to accommodate for the higher elevations, cleaner air and the fact that it's practically a crime to sit in your house on a sunny day, regardless of the temperature, the biggest adjustment that's been made involves my television viewing.
